I get around the horses I manage and those I own with Sherryl as often as possible. It’s wonderful to observe the changes and you really notice the difference when you haven’t seen the horse for a few weeks.
We don’t have land and that’s for a reason – I’d much rather leave the hands-on horse stuff to those who know it best. It might cost more in the long run, but the peace-of-mind is worth every cent.
Anyway, today we went to see a filly we have with Nick and Anne-Marie King at Brighthill Farm. She’s Lot 1108 for the Karaka Select Sale and is by Perfectly Ready from Tears We Cry (French Deputy).
I bred the filly. She was born at Cambridge Stud then later transferred to Brighthill Farm. We offered her at the Weanling Sale, but she unfortunately had a fall on the sale ground and scraped her shoulder. It wasn’t of any significance, but enough to stop a sale at the time.
It’s probably been a blessing; the filly has grown into a stunning type and you’ll see from the photo that she’s ready, right now, to go to Karaka.
I asked Nick King what she’d score on a scale of ten for temperament. He said 8.5, maybe 9.0.
I’m proud to say she’s ours, for now at least. She will have a sensible reserve at Karaka. When you don’t have land and have a few to feed – you need to sell!
