He’s Remarkable – my pennies worth
Like so many others I took great interest in the ambitious plan by Roger James to take He’s Remarkable all the way across to Perth for the A$1m Railway Stakes.
Watching the race, I thought the horse could not have looked better, was ridden positively by Kerrin McEvoy, and was so pleased when he crossed the line every bit a dominant winner.
It was mission-accomplished for Roger James and his team of owners. Not only did they have a huge pay day, but his potential stallion value had drastically increased.
So it came as a shock to me to read the next morning that he lost the race in the Stewards’ Room.
I won’t get into the should he or should he have not lost the race discussion, but what I would say is that Roger James has earned huge points for having the guts to travel so far and have a crack at something so big. It must have been a terribly-long flight home, mulling over what so nearly was the ‘perfect’ result.
Team He’s Remarkable; hold your heads up high; live to fight another day and trust me, breeders won’t forget the Railway Stakes run when your horse does finally go to stud.
