Ellerslie likely for Purpose
I discussed immediate plans for Purpose (Falkirk ex Viviane, by Volksraad) with trainer Richard Collett at yesterday’s Ready to Run Sale at Karaka.
The 3YO filly has come through her winning return to racing at Dargaville last Friday in excellent order. Though she won, Purpose was never happy running left-handed and found the 1200 metres a bit sharp right now.
So her immediate assignments are likely to be right-handed with a progressive step up in distance a possibility. The next run could be at Ellerslie Saturday week in a Rating 75 over 1400 metres. Should she do well in that, consideration will be given to a tilt at the Eight Carat Classic-Gr.2 (1600m) on the same track on Boxing Day.
Purpose has a big pedigree with her dam being a half-sister to Nimue (1000 Guineas & Bayer Classic), Smiling Like (Wellington Cup), Sirstaci (Easter Handicap) and Eurostar (dual Gr.3 winner, 4th in Melbourne Cup).
I purchased Purpose for a client at the 2010 Karaka Select Sale. She was bred by Windsor Park Stud and broken-in by Paul Pertab.
