Nom du Jeu filly for Suriyan

Suriyan, who is from the first crop of Savabeel and likely to be one of his few fillies to go to stud so far, has produced her first foal, a filly by the Australian Derby winner Nom du Jeu.

Suriyan (Savabeel ex Dazzling Belle, by Desert Sun) was an expensive yearling, being purchased by Robbie Hewetson at the 2008 Karaka Premier Sale for $230,000.

It’s easy to see why she made money; she’s a beautiful type and I have every expectation that she will produce lovely foals.

Suriyan was a winner for trainer Andrew Scott before injury forced her retirement.  I leased her last year for a client before proceeding with her purchase earlier this year.

Suriyan will be mated with Westbury Stud’s Giant’s Causeway horse, Red Giant, in the coming weeks.
