Nearco selling Kuro half-brother next week

The half-brother the the twice Group One-placed Kuro, by Ocean Park ex Distinctive Lass - Lot 262 at the Easter Sale

The multiple Listed-winning and dual Group One-placed Kuro was the first horse to secure black type in Australia for horses bred by Nearco Stud, so the Joe Pride-training gelding is a bit of a favourite for us.

I purchased his dam Distinctive Lass (Orientate) carrying Kuro (Denman) at the 2011 Sydney Easter Broodmare Sale for A$140,000.  We brought the mare home to New Zealand where she stayed in the care of Gordon Cunningham at his Curraghmore Stud.

Kuro was offered at the 2013 Karaka Premier Sale by Curraghmore on Nearco’s behalf and he made $170,000 to the bid of Champion Thoroughbreds.

We sold a Darci Brahma colt from the mare at last year’s Karaka Premier Sale to David Ellis for $100,000.

The next foal is by Ocean Park (see photo) and he sells at next week’s William Inglis Sydney Easter Yearling Sale from the consignment of Mike & Kate Fleming’s Bhima Thoroughbreds.

Distinctive Lass now resides at Bhima and producted an All Too Hard filly last spring and is currently in foal to Snitzel.
