Gr.1 performers have two things in common

Highden Park owner/operators Sam and Libby Bleakley have good reason to be smiling today.

Yesterday’s Group One placegetters Montaigne (2nd Rosehill Guineas) and Strada Cavallo (3rd New Zealand Oaks) were both born at their Palmerston North property.

What’s more, Montaigne was raised at the farm, educated for the Karaka Yearling Sales and sold by Highden Park.

Sam and Libby Bleakley are excellent hands-on operators and not only is this result deserved, it’s the first of much more success for the farm I’m sure.

The way a thoroughbred is raised is an all-important ingredient.  You can have all the breeding in the world, but if the youngster is not raised correctly, it will never perform to its’ full potential.

The other thing Montaigne and Strada Cavallo have in common is that they were bred by Nearco Stud Ltd.

As the Manager of Greg Tomlinson’s Nearco bloodstock portfolio, we are not only proud of the results achieved by Montaigne and Strada Cavallo, but feel fortunate to have a happy working relationship with Sam and Libby and their Highden Park operation – thanks guys.
