Nearco-bred fillies chase Group Races

Two fillies bred by Nearco Stud Ltd chase Group prestige honours at Trentham Gardens on Saturday, namely Strada Cavallo and Lauberhorn – both of which are trained by Graham Richardson at Matamata.

Strada Cavallo (Alamosa ex Abenroad, by Danroad) takes her place in the Wellfield New Zealand Oaks-Gr.1 (2400m).  Nearco Stud bred the filly and she was born and raised at Casey and Michelle Dando’s Bradbury Park on the outskirts of Matamata.  Bradbury offered the filly for Nearco at the 2014 NZB Karaka Select Sale and she was knocked down to Graham Richardson for $60,000.

Lauberhorn (Swiss Ace ex Nevaeh, by Thorn Park) was also born and raised at Bradbury Park and retained by Nearco Stud before joining the Challenge Syndications’ No.3 Syndicate.  Lauberhorn was not offered as a yearling.  She has won 3 races this season and was fourth in the Gr.3 Desert Gold Stakes (1600m) when making her first trip to Trentham Gardens at the end of January.  On Saturday she contests the Go Racing Wellington Guineas-Gr.2 (1400m).
