Sarajay booked to Iffraaj

The dual Group Two-winning Sarajay will be mated with Haunui Farm’s boom shuttle horse Iffraaj in the coming season.

Sarajay is owned by Adrian and Sherryl Clark who raced her for the latter part of her career from the stable of John Sargent in Matamata.

The winner of 9 races and Group One-placed in the NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes, Sarajay has produced three colts by Champion Sire Zabeel since being retired to stud.

The first colt was sold to Gai Waterhouse at the 2010 Karaka Premier Sale, while the second colt was purchased by Mark Kavanagh at this year’s Premier Sale.  The third colt will be offered at Karaka 2012 from the consignment of Cambridge Stud.

Sarajay is currently in foal to Westbury Stud’s American shuttler, Red Giant.  The foal is expected early next month, so could well be the first Red Giant born in this country.
